Nigeria: Incompetence, Arrogance and Deceit-What a Way to Start the Year

It is not easy for a government to stab itself in the chest, or be exceptionally incompetent. So we must grant that this Government has really tried. Faced with a serious security crisis it neither understands nor possesses any competence to deal with, it decided to start the year with a Trojan gift to Nigerians- that of higher fuel prices. Commonsense says you do not seek for new enemies when you don't know how to defeat the one you are currently fighting, namely, Boko Haram.

Even the timing is inappropriate, if not illegal. Government said it will remove "fuel subsidy" in 2012 Budget. It extended the 2011 Budget to end in March 2012, with the new Budget taking off in April. So, why the decision to start in January?
