Nigeria: UNIBEN Group Alleges Marginalisation

Benin — A group, Concerned Staff of the University of Benin, CSUB, has raised alarm over alleged attempts to turn the institution into another Benin Empire by ensuring the removal of non-indigenes of the area from important positions in the university.

The group alleged that already, "the Vice- Chancellor is a Bini man, the Registrar is Bini, the Director of Works is Bini, the Director of Administration is Bini and the Provost, Ekewan Campus, is also Bini." It alleged that attempts were being made to remove the Bursar, Mrs. May Ifeoma Nwoye, for another Bini man or woman.
