Egypt: Agriculture Minister - Punishments to Potatoe Export Companies Breaching Conditions

Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation Mohamed Reda Ismail stressed on 7/1/2012 that his Ministry in cooperation with the Ministry of Industry and Foreign Trade will apply severe punishments to any Egyptian potatoe exporting company that violate exporting terms and conditions.

Agriculture minister said, in a statement released on Saturday, that the Egyptian potatoes would be exported to all world countries starting from the new season 2011-2012 in light of the European Union (EU) decision to completely lift the export ban on Egyptian potatoes.

Egypt has notified EU countries along with Russia, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia and Syria with the agricultural areas free of pesticides and suitable for cultivating potatoes.
