Maputo — Staff from the Nampula Provincial Directorate for the Coordination of Environmental Action, in northern Mozambique, have been sent to Nacala, Nacala-a-Velha and Mossuril districts to assess the level of environmental damage caused by the cutting down of cashew trees.
According to a report in the Nampula electronic newsheet "Wamphula Fax", the trees are being cut down to meet the demand for wood fuel from bakeries and from the vegetable oil industry.
