The roundabout linking the ancient Mapo hall with other parts of Ibadan, Oyo State, has been renamed the Freedom Square where labour and civil society groups protested the removal of fuel subsidy.
The choice of the ancient hall, according to the chairman of the Joint Action Front (JAF), Mr. Demola Aremu, coordinating the anti-subsidy mass protest alongside the leadership of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) was due to the central location of the hall.
