Alhaji Omar Khan, the governor of Upper River Region (URR) recently testified as the first prosecution witness in the criminal trial involving the state against Omar Sompo Ceesay, the former chairman of Basse Area Council (BSAC), before the Banjul Magistrates Court, presided over by Principal Magistrate Taiwo Ade Alagbe.
In his testimony, Governor Khan told the court that he recognised the accused, whom he said was the former chairman of the Basse Area Council. He informed the court that he has been the governor of URR since April 2004 to date and worked with the accused for three years.
