Gambia: Thief Sentenced

The principal Magistrate Foster of the Bundung Magistrates' Court on Thursday, 12 January 2012 convicted and sentenced one Kebba Sarr to serve a prison term of 9 months without an option of a fine. The convict was charged with the offence of stealing, contrary Section 252 of the Laws of The Gambia.

The particulars of theoffence revealed that on the 19th day of December 2011 at Bundung in the Kanifing Municipality, the thief stole a lap top valued at D18,000 and a mobile phone marked LG, valued at D2, 000; the total value of items being D20, 000, all belonging to one Sira Faal. When the charge sheet was read to him, the thief pleaded guilty and was sentenced to a prison term of 9 months.
