Nigeria: Red Cross Deploys Volunteers, Kits to Help Protesters

The Nigerian Red Cross Society has stepped up its preparedness and humanitarian response as it deployed hundreds of volunteers to the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory to assist people wounded in the ongoing confrontation between protesters and security forces.

The society's secretary general, Bello Hamman Diram, said that "our volunteers provided first aid to over 300 injured persons, while those seriously wounded were evacuated to nearby hospitals."
