Nigeria: Soldiers Take Over Lagos Streets to Stop Fuel Protests

IN what appears a desperate attempt to repress the fuel subsidy protests scheduled to continue today, President Goodluck Jonathan has deployed troops of gun-wielding soldiers to the streets of Lagos.

The soldiers, who are heavily-armed have taken positions in places like Ikoyi, Surulere, Ikeja, Ojota, as well as other parts where the people trooped out last week to protest the sharp petrol price increase.
