Nigeria: Fashola Carpets FG Over Deployment of Soldiers to Lagos

Lagos state Governor, Mr Babatunde Fashola on Monday, carpeted the federal government for deploying soldiers to Lagos State to quell protests triggered by the removal of fuel subsidy, saying that the usage of the military to suppress civilian's fundamental human rights amounts to oppression and repression of the masses.

Fashola who spoke in a state wide broadcast to Lagosians lamented the loss of a young Nigerian, Ademola Aderinto who was shot during the protest by a trigger-happy police officer, and pledged to bring the alleged perpetrator to justice.
