Namibia: It Is Gloves Off for March Polls

Windhoek — Hot rivals Swapo Party and the Rally for Democracy and Progress (RDP) have both confirmed their participation in the March 16 elections at Oranjemund and Otjinene.

Residents of Oranjemund, in the Karas Region, will go to the polls to elect political office-bearers for its town council. It will be the first local authority election with Oranjemund having been a mining town for years. It was proclaimed a village council by Jerry Ekandjo, the Minister of Regional and Local Government, Housing and Rural Development.
