Arusha — A TOTAL of 26 new seed varieties for seven different crops have been approved and would be used in the next farming season.
Commending the National Seed Committee (NSC) for a job well done, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Security and Cooperatives, Mr Mohammed Muya said the new varieties were a landmark in the country's agricultural history, adding that the seeds are not only drought and disease resistant, bust also take no time to mature and have higher yield.
