Kenya: Two Prison Warders Nabbed With Fake Currency in Meru

TWO prison warders from Meru GK Prison were yesterday brought before a Meru magistrate court charged with possession of fake currency notes.

Paul Agusa and Paul Karanja denied holding eight fake Sh1000 notes before Meru resident magistrate Shadrack Mwinzi and were released on a Sh300,000 bond with a surety of a similar amount. The court heard that the two were found in possession of the amount following a search inside the correctional facility. The two had at first pleaded guilty to the charges before changing their minds after the particulars of the case were read out.
