Sierra Leone: President Koroma May Boycott SLAJ's 2012 Debate

Sources within the State House have revealed that President Ernest Koroma of the ruling All Peoples Congress APC will not honour this year's edition of the presidential debate usually organized by the Sierra Leone Association of Journalists SLAJ for politicians to showcase their agenda and democratic tendency to the nation ahead of elections.

Though no official reason has been given for the proposed boycott, sources say the president wishes to be judged based on his performance over the past four years with the agenda for change campaign as his guide for both economic and social transformation of the country. It is believed in some quarters that the presidential debate could be academic and sometimes not the right instrument to test the credibility or capability of an individual but it will definitely help
