Mozambique: Storm Dissipates, Leaving Trail of Misery

Maputo — Although moderate rainfall continued in Maputo on Wednesday morning, tropical depression "Dando", which brought high winds and torrential rains to southern Mozambique over the previous two days, has now dissipated, according to the National Operational Emergency Centre (CENOE).

The storm flooded low lying parts of the capital. A preliminary count showed that 96 houses were submerged. 480 people were driven out of their homes and took refuge on church and school premises.
