Felix Ndagijimana, who since 2008 has served as deputy director of the Karisoke Research Center, has been promoted to director - the first Rwandan to hold the post.
The Karisoke Research Center, located in Volcanoes National Park, is the world's centerpiece for the study and protection of the critically endangered mountain gorillas. The center was founded in 1967 by Dr. Dian Fossey and operated since her death by the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund International.
