Tunisia: Another Case of Self-Immolation in South

27 year-old Hamza Jebali, from Gebeli (southern-Tunisia), set himself on fire on Saturday evening, January 14 - the first anniversary of .

Jebali's self-immolation occurred at the bus station in the city center in protest of the imprisonment of his brother, one of those detained by security forces in September, 2011. The incident occurred following the interim government's recent announcement to grant amnesty to thousands of prisoners to commemorate the anniversary of the ouster of former Tunisian president Ben Ali. Jebali's brother was not among those prisoners who were released.
