Kenya: Interest Rate Cap Will Curtail Growth, Says Mudavadi

The proposal to amend the Banking Act to cap interest rates charged by banks could stall growth of the economy, says Deputy Prime Minister Musalia Mudavadi.

The suggestion in the Bill to regulate interest rates might interfere with free market control of lending rates, said Mr Mudavadi, who is also the minister for Local Government.
