Zambia/Equatorial Guinea: FAZ Challenges Chipolopolo Over Next Game

The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has challenged the Chipolopolo to approach the Equatorial Guinea match with a positive attitude after dropping points against Libya in Wednesday's Orange Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Group A match here.

FAZ vice-president Boniface Mwamelo said qualification for the quarter-finals was still in Zambia's hands, hence the need to keep the foot on the paddle.

Mwamelo, who is delegation leader here, said the squad needed to move on after the disappointing 2-2 draw with Libya and remain focused for the last group match.

He said the association was optimistic that the Chipolopolo would qualify for the quarter-finals from the group which saw pre-tournament favourites, Senegal become the first team to be knocked out from the tournament.

"We just have to approach the next game with the positive attitude and I am sure we will qualify to the quarter-finals," he said.

Mwamelo described the match against Libya as difficult because of the water-logged pitch and some questionable officiating by Malian referee Koman Coulibaly.

"It was a difficult match, especially considering the pitch and some questionable officiating. There are a number of positives to be picked from the match. Qualification is still in our hands and not dependent on other results," he said.

Zambia will wrap up the AFCON Group A campaign with a tie against leaders, Equatorial Guinea on Sunday in Malabo.
