The rebasing of the Zambian Kwacha will make it easier for tourists to deal with the currency as the local currency will be in fewer digits, Livingstone Tourism Association (LTA) chairperson Kingsley Lilamono has said.
Mr Lilamono said in response to a press query in Livingstone yesterday that the move would enable tourists to carry smaller numbers of the currency around as compared to them carrying larger figures.
He said smaller figures would be more portable than the current currency where one needed a lot of notes to purchase small items.
On Monday this week, the Zambian Government announced the re-denomination of the Zambian Kwacha in which three zeros would be dropped from the local currency in the next six months.
