Zambia: Fileisa By Mulenga and Revival Touch

music review

GRANT Mulenga is a new artist on the Zambian music scene, particularly in the gospel music circles, and Fileisa is his debut album, which had the hit title track Fileisa winning Radio Christian Voice song-of-the-year for 2011.

It's a 10 track album with nine songs and one instrumental. All songs were recorded, produced and engineered at G Sounds studios in Lusaka by Aaron Sekati.

The album opens with a song called Isa Kuli Yesu, a worship song that tells people to come to Jesus and see what good the son of God will do to them once they accept Him as their personal saviour. The song being a worship one, not much instrumentation is needed but the producer did well to use live keyboards, drums and guitars. Nshakatine is second on the track listing followed by Echubo, which are both worship songs with live instruments. Echubo has a bit of some praise elements though it is a laid back tune. Ine Nshakaleke is the only praise song on the album with a sweet female vocalist whose name was not credited on the album cover. Nevertheless, is from the praise team - the Revival Touch.

The female vocalist did justice to the song after it reached the climax with praise chanting in Luba a language from Congo DR. Not only did the language add flavour to the song, the live drums, guitars and keyboard makes one appreciate live music to the fullest.

The message of hope which many yearn for from gospel music helped Mulenga register his name in the gospel circles. It's a laidback song and as usual with live instruments and arranged properly.

Ever since we started reviewing albums this year we had hits only and it looks so this week because Fileisa is a worship album done using the much cried for live instruments and arranged in a way that dignifies God. Get the album Christians and get uplifted.
