The year 2011 held many hopes for the improvement of power supply in Nigeria with government's target of realising 5000mw and the road map for power reforms launched by the government during the year. However, the target was never met.
Given President Goodluck Jonathan's avowed commitment to deliver dividends of democracy and the appointment of Prof Barth Nnaji as minister of power, there were rays of hope that the elusive power challenge might receive some decisive but decent tackling. This was in May after the April 2011 general elections.
