Nigeria: Gov Yuguda Wants Locals to Defeat Forces of Disunity

Nigerians have been advised to concentrate their efforts on defeating the forces of disunity in the country instead of beating the drums of war because in the event of any catastrophe everyone will be affected.

The advice was given by the Bauchi State Governor, Isa Yuguda at a public lecture titled 'Nigeria's Unity and the Stability of the West African Sub-Region' delivered at the Lagos Island Club, Friday.

"It will help if we know each other's religious tradition; and that it will help if we begin by ensuring that all those who speak on behalf of their religion know exactly what it says."

The Governor opined that those beating the drums of war at the slightest tension in the land must know that "breaking up a nation is very hard-as hard as its founding.

The sorry part is that there was an audience listening to a brash fire-spitting upstart, breathing gloom and gloom, predicting brimstone and fire in the aftermath of Nigeria’s break-up. It is not for this man to judge or make pronouncements as to whether or not Nigerians wish to remain clasped in this deadly embrace with the Hausa/Fulani. His most irresponsible, and provocative utterances are still fresh in everybody's mind. His sudden realization of the role of a responsible governance runs counter to his gaffe after the deadly post-election Hausa/Fulani rampage that left over 800 innocent Nigerian citizens dead. He was quoted to have said that it was the destiny of the Southerners and Youth Corp workers -young men and women on legitimate, patriotic assignment- to die. It was Yuguda’s master stroke that deeply offended the sensibilities of an entire nation. It is an unfortunate remark that will follow him around like bad smell all the days of his life.     The Hausa/Fulani have crossed the line back-and-forth, way too often. To take pleasure in the murder of fellow citizens is to go beyond the extreme end of evil practice. Characteristic of Northern Islamic elite, Yuguda is again much more concerned with the discomfort of a break-up to the North. The north entertains a morbid fear of the unknown, and yet would not touch a National Conference even with a long spoon. This man deludes himself in the thinking that "Nigeria as it is, has come to stay". All the indicators are there. The cracks are deep. There is no basis for it to come to stay. Gowon, another man who saw tomorrow, knew it way back in 1966. But he flip-flopped and went in denial, preferring to kick the can down the road. The cycles of gruesome murder by the Hausa/Fulani predates Nigeria’s independence; records date back to1945. Ever since, the horrific practice has continued unabated, with increasing abominable intensity and barbaric brutality. It is not as if the maniacal misbehavior started only in April, 2011.       Does this man sincerely believe, deep down in his heart (assuming he has one) that mass murder is the appropriate setting of choice for Nigeria 'to come to stay', more so after his people sent all  southerners and Christians packing? Yuguda must be a very irrational wishful thinker. His grabs the cheap opportunity of the Island Club luncheon to launder satanic Northern agenda with sickening passion. He shows neither compassion for the hapless survivors of the deadly brutality of his people, nor regret for the gruesome massacres going on. Boko Haram criminality is no longer about the resolve to oust the 'infidel' Jonathan Government, the abrogation of the sacrilegious Western constitution and education, the imposition of sharia, and the Islamization of Nigeria. According to Yuguda, Boko Haram trouble is now about perceived poverty he blames for the criminal Hausa reaction he vainly attempts to justify. The man displays a most disingenuous character by making a skewed comparison between his people’s criminality and the legitimate agitation in the Niger-Delta for justice and equity. One wonders what he thinks of the Igbo, the ’favorite’ target of the Hausa/Fulani unprovoked barbarism Very poor folks abound both in the South-West, South-East and South-South, and Yuguda cannot deny this. Neither the OPC, nor MASSOB, MEND or MOSSOP engage in frenzied killing of innocent citizens or chase non-natives out of town. What is it about the Hausa/Fulani that makes them this bloodthirsty? Yuguda should please explain this phenomenon, and the reason his state is a nesting ground for a band of murderous bigots that has gained worldwide. notoriety.       The Governor smartly shies away from providing a definition for “the issues that unite Nigerians (that) are more important”. We all know what it is… the infant feeding bottle that must be stuck in the Northern mouth. The North have never made pretences of their insincerity in building this nation. They would rather “make the place ungovernable” if the Hausa/Fulani is not on the driving seat.. That is one unfortunate threat unworthy of even the meanest renegade. In his whims, Yuguda’s prayer for Nigeria to ‘come to stay’ is for one self-serving purpose only: to sustain a phantom system regarded as foreign conquest of the Islamic jihad; a colony to be exploited and pillaged, then left with the trade mark trail of human blood and destruction. The man pretends to forget that the Hausa/Fulani leaders had vowed and threatened to chase up any Islamic interest with the "last drop of blood".  We have neither forgotten that threat, nor are we surprised at the terror the North has unleashed on a nation that gave them everything. Indeed, we need to fight that war and get it over with. To avoid it is kicking the can down the road. We are already short of road. The North should keep those last drops of blood very handy; they may soon need them.
