Why should anyone be led by you? Historically, the role of chairman has been regarded as a reward for a long career in an industry as the occupant was normally a non-executive member.

Attractive perks and prestige normally accompanies the role. However, times have changed and the role has become more serious as chairpersons are now engaged on a full-time basis.
