Nigeria: FG Commissions NYSC Distress Call Centre

Federal Government has finally commissioned the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Distress Call Centre (DCC), for corps members to alert the authorities in case of any unforeseen circumstances.

Commissioning the centre at the directorate headquarters in Abuja, the Minister of Youth Development, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi said that the new NYSC posting formula was very sensitive to the security of life of corps members, as no idea or objective was worth their lives. "Our greatest challenge has been the increasing spate of insecurity which exacts tremendous pressures on the operations of the scheme. It is incumbent on us, therefore, to seek improved ways of attending to the security concerns of the scheme."
