Namibia: Standard Bank Woes Continue

STANDARD Bank Namibia, whose new computer system has caused an outcry from its clients, had Government employees seeing red yesterday.

Police officers, teachers and secretaries who bank with Standard Bank, and who were scheduled to receive their salaries at 00h00 yesterday, were left empty-handed. According to the bank's spokesperson, Rejoice Itembu, "a technical issue" was behind the problem. She said it "has already been identified and thorough investigations are taking place to avoid this in future".
