The Child Protection Alliance (CPA) with support from the ECPAT Netherlands Thursday organised a two-day training workshop on the Gambia Tourism Board (GTB) Code of Conduct for the Protection of Children in Tourism, at the Baobab Holiday Resort in Bijilo. The workshop was meant to raise awareness on the Code of Conduct and ensure greater protection of children from abuse and exploitation through tourism in The Gambia.
Speaking on the topic, 'Children's right and the regional and international legal instruments,' Njundu Drammeh, national coordinator of the CPA, said the healthy development of children is crucial to the future wellbeing of any society. He explained that children start life as totally dependent beings, adding that the action or inaction of governments impact on children more strongly than any other group in the society.
