Koffi Sama, Former Togolese Prime Minister Joins ECOWAS-AU Joint Mission to Senegal

Dakar - Senegal — The ECOWAS Commission has appointed former Togolese Prime Minister, His Excellency Koffi Sama, as a member of the Joint African Union-ECOWAS High- Level Mission to Senegal.

Endorsed by the 40th Ordinary Session of the Authority of Heads of State and Government which ended in Abuja on 17th February 2012, the joint mission will arrive in Dakar on (today) Tuesday 21 February 2012.

The mission, which is headed by former President of Nigeria, General Olusegun Obasanjo, is to engage all political stakeholders in Senegal, with a view to promoting dialogue and ensuing peaceful, fair and transparent elections in that country. Mr. Sama is also leading the 150-man ECOWAS Observation Mission to Senegal's Sunday, 26th February 2012 presidential election.

He was head of the regional observation mission to the presidential election in Burkina Faso in November 2010 and the presidential and legislative elections in Niger in January and March 2011, respectively.
