Nigeria: Henry Dickson Resigns From House of Representatives

Governor Henry Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa state yesterday formally resigned his position as member of the House of Representatives.

In a letter addressed to the Speaker of the House Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, Dickson said having been sworn in as governor he ceases to be a lawmaker since February 15th 2012.

The former federal lawmaker, who represented Sagbama/Ekeremor Federal Constituency of Bayelsa state from 2007 to 2012, said he was painfully transiting to the executive arm of government.

He however, indicated that he might come back to the National Assembly in future describing his exit as "temporary".

Dickson maintained that the House was a training ground for leaders in the country and promised to run a transparent government in Bayelsa and open it to the whole world.
