Angola: Agriculture Official Defends Greater Co-Ordination Among Sectors

Luanda — The official in charge of the Agrarian Development Institute (IAD) in Luanda, Ana Salomão, has defended a greater co-ordination among the various sectors of the Ministry of Agriculture, in order to meet the needs and demands of the peasants.

He said that although there are good relations between the firm of agricultural mechanisation (Mecanagro) and his institute, the former has been creating great constraints to IDA with regard to fulfilment of its responsibilities.

Ana Salomão also said that the solution depends on a joint and systematic work among the commercial banks, the Ministry of Agriculture and other sectors.

She explained that IDA has a contract with Mecanagro that aims at preparing the lands, which has not been accomplished by latter, thus making difficult for the institute and the peasants to carry out their activities.
