Sierra Leone: Citizens Can Register at Any Centre - NEC Declares

In the wake of objections faced by Sierra Leoneans who arrive at voter registration centers in environments where they are not known, the National Electoral Commission, NEC has declared that all eligible Sierra Leoneans can present themselves at any registration centre nationwide to participate in the ongoing voter registration exercise.

While addressing journalists yesterday at the NEC conference hall, Tower Hill in Freetown, NEC chairperson, Dr. Christiana Thorpe said it is within the commission's mandate as provided for in the 1991 Constitution to register all eligible citizens who present themselves at any registration centre even though they may not be residents of that community.
