Tanzania: Lower Minimum Poll Ages, Urge MPs Makamba, Zitto

Dar es Salaam — MPs January Makamba (Bumbuli-CCM) and Zitto Kabwe (Kigoma North-Chadema) want the voting age limit and that of the presidential candidate lowered.

Speaking in Dar es Salaam yesterday the youthful lawmakers pushed for the voting age to be reduced from the current 18 years to 16. They also proposed reduction of the mandatory age for presidential aspirants from 40 years to 30 years.
