Kenya: Grand Send-Off for Michuki in Kangema

A somber mood engulfed Kangema town in Murang'a county yesterday as friends and relatives to Environment minister John Michuki attended his burial.

Michuki died on Tuesday last week at the Aga Khan University Hospital, Nairobi after suffering a heart attack. He was 80-year-old. President Kibaki, Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka, Prime Minister Raila Odinga, retired President Daniel Moi, cabinet ministers, MPs and dignitaries were among thousands of mourners who attended the burial ceremony held at the General Kago Stadium in Kangema. Archbishop Peter Kairu of Nyeri Diocese conducted the burial mass.
