Africa: World Bank Boost Africa's Food Security With U.S.$1 Billion

World Bank's Vice-President (Africa), Dr. Oby Ezekwesili, Monday said the global bank had queued behind Africa's quest for food security and freedom from hunger, saying: "We now commit $1 billion to African agriculture investment."

Ezekwesili, who disclosed this in Abeokuta, Ogun State capital, during the inauguration of Feed Africa Programme, which also coincided with the 75th birthday anniversary of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, said improving food security in Africa went well beyond managing fluctuating cost of food imports.
