Gambia/Senegal: Victorious Brikama United Return to Heroes Welcome

Gambian champions Brikama United returned to a heroes welcome at the administrative capital of West Coast Region on Monday following their history making performance at the CAF Champions League on Saturday.

A Sulayman Kuyateh led side defy all the odds at the weekend as they surprisingly dumped the Senegalese champions US Ouakam, who were eliminated on penalties. The Senegalese held a 1-0 advantage from the first match in Brikama, but the Gambians reversed the score in Dakar courtesy of a Foday Trawally strike and then had the best of the shoot-out by a 3-1 margin. They will face defending champions Esperance of Tunisia in the next round, which will take place in March and April.
