Kenya: Police Probe How Terror Suspect Fled Shanzu Raid

Police in Mombasa are investigating how a British woman wanted by the anti-terrorism police escaped a police dragnet. A Police chief, who was commanding a team of police officers who raided the house of Natalie Faye Webb when she escaped, has since been transfered. It is not know exactly how the woman escaped arrest by the police and its believed that she may have been tipped off about the raid.

A Senior police officer in Mombasa said the inquiry was opened to establish how Natalie, whose real identity Bristish claim to be Samantha Leawaithe, was not arrested when police raided her house in Shanzu in December. The senior officer, who requested anonymity, termed the incident as an oversight and stated that the police ought to have arrested everyone in the Shanzu house.
