Uganda: Govt Gets Thumbs Up for Improving Women's Health

On Mar. 8 Uganda and the rest of the world celebrated women's day a day set aside to celebrate women's achievements and to get a way forward to some of the challenges that they still face. Women Deliver a global advocacy organization also announced the 'Women Deliver 50,' a list of 50 innovative ideas and solutions that are transforming the lives of women and girls around the world.

In Uganda, some of the initiatives that were recognized by the Women Deliver are AFRIpads, a Ugandan social enterprise working to reduce the high rates of menstrual-related absenteeism among schoolgirls in rural Africa through a simple solution: low-cost, reusable sanitary pads.
