Kenya: KTB Showcases Country's Diverse Tourism Products

Nairobi — More than 70 organisations in the tourism sector have confirmed their participation for this month's "MagicalKenya Travel Fair" that is organised by the Kenya Tourist Board.

The fair which opens its doors to visitors on Wednesday at the Sarit Centre, will bring together domestic airlines, hotels, camps, lodges and tour operators, who will showcase their offerings until Sunday.

KTB's Managing Director Muriithi Ndegwa said the fair is themed "Kenya as a Whole Year Round Destination" and will target domestic tourists comprising professionals, family, couples, friends and students; looking for Easter holiday packages.

The travel fair comes at a time when our tourism products have been diversified and new products have come up. It also comes on the back of an exercise that has seen the restocking of parks by Kenya Wildlife Service, improved roads and new hotels coming up.

He said the improved beach environment has restored the confidence of tourists in spending more time at our white sandy beaches as well as a secure and an organized beach market thanks to Kenya Wildlife Service.

"We already know that the Coastal region receives a high number of local tourists during holidays. This fair will also provide local and regional tourist stakeholders an opportunity to showcase emerging domestic tourist attractions one can opt for during their holidays," said Muriithi.

A number of the exhibitors at the fair have already announced that they will be giving discounts to visitors who book their holidays and make other purchases during the five-day fair.

"We continue diversifying the local tourist product and this fair will also be a good platform to showcase what other attractions Kenya has in addition to the traditional safari and beaches that we are renowned for."

The bi-annual fair is now in its seventh consecutive year, and has cut a niche as the premier tourism showcase.
