In what is being described as a timely intervention by some party stalwarts, flag-bearer of the main opposition Sierra Leone People's Party (SLPP) has succeeded in settling the party's twenty five million Leones (Le25,000,000) outstanding rent it was owing the Gbao family for their 5 Hangha Road, Kenema property it has been using as office space for some years now.
The failure to promptly settle the party's outstanding rent for its eastern region headquarters became a source of embarrassment for a party that was in power less than five years ago. The matter drew huge public attention and made headlines in some section of the media, thus leading to the convening of an emergency meeting by the SLPP executive to save the party's image from being smeared.
