Cote d'Ivoire: Prime Minister Guillaume Soro to Resign Today

press release

With a picture of the prime minister on its front page, Nord-Sud Quotidien carries a banner headline announcing that "Soro will resign today." According to the paper (p. 2), the Ivorian prime minister will hand over his resignation to President Alassane Ouattara during an extraordinary cabinet meeting due to held today in Abidjan.

The article suggests that Soro, who has set a record for retaining this position for five consecutive years, will remain a "key player" in the future of Cote d'Ivoire. The paper discloses that Soro, who was elected as an MP during the December 11 parliamentary elections, will now move to the National Assembly and could be elected Speaker of the House. A "prestigious position," which, the paper says, will make him become the second-ranking State personality after the President of the Republic.
