A youth-friendly hospital has been established in Kuje General Hospital to take care of health needs of young people in the area.
Medical Director of Kuje Hospital, Dr. M. Ahmed-Danfulani, said the initiative is a joint effort between MacArthur Foundation and Kuje General Hospital.
He said the objective of the initiative is to create awareness about the existence and purpose of the clinic, adding that it will equip youths in and out of school with correct information and psychological skills needed to deal effectively with their everyday life.
The establishment of the clinic, he added, is to secure stakeholders commitment and support for youth-friendly health services and provide facilities for information to the youths.
In his keynote address, Secretary FCT Health and Human Services Secretariat, Dr. Ademola Onokomaiya, said adolescents constitutes over 30% of the total population and reports have shown that many of them lack the right information and education about reproductive health.
He said promoting the sexual and reproductive health rights of young people is challenging, due to their sexual activities.
