Nigeria: Hembe VS Oteh - Documents Confirm House Committee Made First Request

The N44 million corruption tale rocking the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the House of Representatives Committee on Capital Market yesterday took a different twist as new set of documents imply that the ousted Herman Hembe-led panel made the first request for cash from the commission.

On Tuesday, Hembe denied the bribery allegation levelled against his panel by the Director-General of SEC, Arunmah Oteh, and disqualified himself from the investigation. Hembe claimed that contrary to the allegation by Oteh, it was the SEC which attempted to bribe the committee with N30 million, a request he rejected.
