Ghana: Water War Looms in Bogoso-Dumasi

Safe drinking water must dramatically and miraculously find its way to the Bogoso-Dumasi community within a week else the Golden Star Resources (Bogoso/Prestea) Ltd will have riotous residents to contend with as they plan to vandalise giant water storage tanks provided for the town by the mining firm.

The threat is a rehash of a March 31, 2012 deadline which the residents earlier gave the company, asking it to discontinue the supply of unsafe water to the community, located in the Prestea-Huni Valley District and about two-and-half hours drive from Takoradi, capital of the Western Region.
