Africa: HTPs Expose Children to Various Forms of Violence

Addis Ababa — Children are often victims of various forms of physical or psychological violence due to Harmful Traditional Practices (HTPs), African Union (AU) Commissioner for Social Affairs, Bience P. Gawanas said

Speaking at the opening of the 19th Session of the African Committee of Experts on the Rights and Welfare of the Child here on Monday, the Commissioner said many governments and communities in Africa are exerting efforts to overcome the problem as they have become aware of the HTPs.
