Africa: Just Nine Home Wins in 31 Matches of Continental Club Competitions

Nine home victories, 15 draws and 7 away victories were recorded in 31 matches of the Champions League and the Orange Confederation Cup this weekend. This shows the competitiveness at both national team and club level. No other match ended with more than two goals difference except Raja of Casablanca that got trounced 5- 0 in Ghana, Recreativo de Libolo thrashing Sunshine Stars, the semi finalist of last year's Confederation Cup, and El Hilal's easy win in Bangui.

Raja was at the wrong end of their heaviest defeat away in continental club competition. "Our strategy is to score more goals than our rival" said Hans Vand der Plyum, Berekum Chelsea coach, whose team is making a debut on the continental scene. The first goal only came at the 33rd minute while the other four were score in the second period. Emmanuel Clottey got scored a hat trick. The question is whether Raja can score six goals at the Mohamed V stadium in the return fixture.
