THE German NGO alliance 'No Amnesty For Genocide' has condemned the German government's rejection of two motions by opposition parties calling for an official apology by the German state for the 1904 to 1908 genocide in what is today Namibia.
"In light of the general consensus among both historians and the public that the imperial Schutztruppe committed genocide against the Herero and Nama, the governing coalition's renewed refusal to recognise the genocide amounts to a denial of it," commented Christian Kopp of Berlin Postkolonial.
