Ethiopia: University to Increase Enrollment Capacity

Mettu — Mettu University in Oromia State said it is undertaking activities to increase its enrollment capacity to 2500 in the coming academic year from the present 300 students.

University Academic Vice President Dr. Kitesa Chemeda said the university has finalized construction of four of the ten buildings launched to increase the enrollment capacity.

Dr. Kitesa said the buildings have dormitories and classrooms, among others.

He said construction of the remaining buildings, which will have library, laboratory, classrooms and dining halls, is scheduled to be finalized in the coming June.

When all the buildings go operational the university's enrollment capacity will grow to 2500 student, Dr. Kitesa said.

University Construction Project Office Manager with the Ministry of Education, Takele Gebrekidan on his part said construction of ten new universities including a new campus for Ambo University is well underway.
