Uganda: Kadaga Orders Inquest Into Namanve Land Theft

Speaker of Parliament Rebecca Kadaga has ordered a probe to ascertain the veracity of claims that the Uganda Land Commission has subdivided land at Namanve industrial park and allocated it to cabinet ministers and other senior government officials.

The Observer has learnt that Kadaga ordered the probe after Eastern Youth MP Peter Ogwang revealed how well-placed individuals have fenced off land in the Kampala Industrial and Business Park (KIBP) even after Uganda Investment Authority (UIA) board had allocated the same land to private investors for development. The companies that have been kicked out of Namanve by senior government officials include Global Comm Holding, Nation Wide Properties, Cooper Motors, Mada Hotels, Fang Fang and Mukwano industries, among others.
