Nigeria: Robbers Shoot Police Officer, Rob Oil Dealer of N3.5 Million

Abeokuta — A police officer was yesterday shot when a gang of armed robbers opened fire on a police post in Abeokuta, Ogun State after dispossessing an oil dealer of about N3.5m in an early morning operation.

The incident occurred barely 24 hours after suspected armed robbers attacked a bus in Ogere area of Ogun State, and dispossessed passengers of their goods and raped some secondary school girls.

The police officer, who was simply identified as Mukaila, was shot in the arm.

The gang it was gathered had zoomed past the police post, only to turn back and attack it.

The Police Public Relations Officer of the state's command, Muyiwa Adejobi said he was yet to be briefed when he was contacted on phone. He however added that the command was investigating the incident, where some students were attacked, and allegedly raped on Saturday.
