Lagos — A fire from electrical appliances has burnt a building in the female hostel wing of Yaba College of Technology, Lagos on Sunday afternoon.

Daily Trust gathered that the fire was sparked off by an electrical plug immediately the Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN) restored electricity to the area.

Witness accounts said a female student who had plugged her electric stove before the power was interrupted, forgot to unplug it and when the power was restored, it caused sudden spark which set the building on fire.

The Public Relations Officer of the institution, Mr Kunle Adams, confirmed the incident.
